Paula Afonso

Paula has always been interested in alternative methods to treat various ailments, from Traditional Chinese Medicine to Classical Homeopathy and all modalities in between, but none were as effective, eye opening or lasting as Heilkunst!

She worked for 12 years as an owner and operator of a thriving massage therapy clinic and it was through one of her clients that she first heard of a local “medicine woman”, which piqued a deep curiosity! From the very first appointment, Paula knew that she was “home” and it wasn’t long before she began her own journey of discovering Heilkunst as a student.

Paula has been a part of the Heilkunst community for over 15 years and after a 10 year hiatus to focus on raising her 2 daughters, now 8 and 10, she recently graduated with her DHHP in the fall of 2020.  Paula balances continuing her education in nutrition, building a Heilkunst practice and homeschooling her children.  Life sure is full!

She enjoys any activity that involves time in nature including hiking, foraging for wild mushrooms, gardening, creating handworks of all kinds and cooking.

Originally from Newfoundland, Paula now resides in Halifax, Nova Scotia with her beloved husband, two daughters (through whom she learns so much) and a dog-like cat.
