Heilkunst was founded by a German physician, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, more than 200 years ago. Dissatisfied with the basis of the medicine of his day, which is still the foundation of allopathic medicine today, he sought to create a way to make medicine safer and more effective for his patients. Heilkunst is ultimately an art form, as well as being the highest scientific expression of human knowledge. To be a true physician is to be, as Dr. Hahnemann termed it, a Heilkuenstler, or one who practices Heilkunst — the art of helping people to become whole at all levels, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
Hahnemann’s system encompasses homeopathy (indeed, some know it only as homeopathy), but also nutrition, hydration, dormition, exercise, mental and moral health, as well as a resonant sexual relationship. The often highly-diluted medicines are used to treat disease, but before we can determine the disease, we have to separate out those symptoms that are caused by disease, and those caused by faulty regimen, specifically faulty nutrition, dehydration, lack of sleep, by a distorted sense of oneself or a non-resonant relationship.
Heilkunst treatment approaches disease by understanding it within the context of one’s life and within the jurisdictions in which the diseases fall. A Heilkuenstler will include, as diseases to be treated, emotional or physical shocks, iatrogenic insults (like vaccination, surgery, dental work, prescription medication), etc., and the remedies that are prescribed for each of the traumata will annihilate the diseases. It is built upon principles set out by nature that are un-disputable.
Initially, the patient will meet with a Heilkuenstler to determine their complaints, whether acute or of long-standing. His or her regiminal habits will be discussed, to see if they are contributing to their suffering. If so, the practitioner will recommend appropriate foods and/or supplements.
Often the practitioner will find that the conditions left after the regiminal faults have been corrected are anchored in the traumatic history of a patient. This is why we ask the patient to prepare a timeline listing all of the more dramatic events that have happened to him/her over the course of their lifetime. This list of events is prepared in the reverse chronological order of their occurrence (from the present, and going back in time) and is used as a guideline by the Heilkuenstler in the treatment of the patient.
After the removal of the traumata the inherited predispositions to disease, called the chronic miasms, are addressed.
During treatment the patient will be an active participant in the process, which is a wonderful education in health and disease, and they learn how to take care of his/her health in a manner that is supporting their inner growth and spiritual evolution, so they can grow more into their self.
